I have no pictures of the Drach caves, an enormous cavern some 500 yards long that
winds its way along an underground lake. We went to the end of the cavern and were seated
in the dark at the edge of the underground lake. Out of the darkness wooden rowboats
carried classical musicians by candlelight playing several selection to set the mood.
Usually visiting a cavern is a "once you've seen one, you've seen them all"
experience, but this was different. I've included various photographs from the end of the
trip in this section.
Excessive development of the shoreline was an issue with the Mallorquins.
We visited a monastery at the top of some tall peaks I imagine were several thousand
feet high. It was built in the 13th century. The work involved in building the monastery
on this remote site is hard to imagine.
