Sailing in the spring in New England has become a traditional part of the Chaos sailing program. The weather is brisk but relatively mild in comparison to winter nor'easters or summer tropical storms. Spring is a windy season and Chaos is a good light air boat, so we seldom are caught unable to sail. One of the best parts of early season sailing is having the coast to ourselves. We usually can take a mooring or anchor almost anywhere in the normally crowded Long Island, Block Island, Vineyard, and Nantucket sounds. In the summer we would probably be struggling to raft up in the outer harbors, and we wouldn't be able to go on solitary hikes in places like Fisher's Island or Block Island.
