Nova Scotia ’99 Trip Plan
Tuesday June 1
AM: Arrival of participants in Lockeport Nova Scotia. Settle in. Last minute provisioning and final preparation.
PM: If weather is good, sail to L’Hebert Harbor and stay the night, otherwise stay in Lockeport for the night. Dinner aboard if in L’Hebert Harbor, ashore if in Lockeport.
Wednesday June 2
AM: Sail to Port Mouton. (25nm,4:33)
PM: Exploration of Port Mouton. Lunch ashore. Dinner ashore or aboard based on what we see going on in Port Mouton. Stay in Port Mouton for the night.
Thursday June 3
AM: Early start. Pancakes for breakfast, in anticipation of long sail to LaHave Islands (30nm,5:27). Lunch underway. Afternoon exploration of the LaHave Islands.
PM: Stay for the night in the LaHave Islands. Dinner aboard.
Friday June 4
AM: Early start. Sail to the Cross Island. (13.85,2:31)
PM: Picnic lunch and some exploration of the Cross Island. Early afternoon trip to Lunenberg. (7.6nm,1:23)
Water, fuel, probably docked etc. Dinner ashore. Stay for night.
Saturday June 5
AM: Explore Lunenberg town, historic buildings, shipyard, maybe a good breakfast, etc. Sail to Mahone Bay (18.5nm,3:22). Possibilities include lunch in Mahone Bay Town, picnic lunch and exploration of Oak Island where William Kidd reputedly buried treasure, a visit to other islands in the bay, or a visit to Indian Point village.
PM: Sail to Deep Cove (16.4nm,3:00) on the other side of Mahone Bay and stay there for the night. Dinner aboard.
Sunday June 6
AM: Quick breakfast. Set sail for Prospect bay and Rogue’s Roost (22nm,4:00)
PM: Lunch underway. Anchor in Rogue’s Roost. Possible before dinner exploration of area before dinner. Reputed to have magnificent sunset views. Dinner aboard.
Monday June 7
AM: Big breakfast in Rogue’s Roost and exploration of views and nearby lake. Sail to Sambro Harbor (13nm,2:21). Lunch underway.
Tuesday June 8
AM: Early start. Sail to Halifax (20.5nm,3:43) Catch returning plane to NJ at 4:00 P.M. from Halifax Airport.
